Beginning June 22, ANA will host four virtual lounges to run in conjunction with the ANA Innovation Awards submission process. We hosted our first virtual networking lounge at the ANCC Virtual Summit last October. It was such an overwhelming success, we decided to launch more of these interactive events.
These events are free. However, registration is required.
We are creating a space for nurses to expand their thinking about the profession and health care, with a focus on innovation. Connect with nursing colleagues and leaders to enhance your skills, get motivated, and build upon your personal confidence. Ultimately, we want to inspire you to develop and act on your ideas.

The Path of Pioneers: Nursing's Legacy, Nursing's Future
A lot of people are asking “Where do we go from here?” Join an intimate conversation between two pioneering nurses who have repeatedly shown that healthcare and nursing can be improved. We’ll be discussing what nursing can learn from the past and how nurses leading innovative work can move healthcare and nursing into the future.
Always ahead of her time, Marie Manthey PhD (hon), MNA, FAAN, FRCN, President Emeritus is a nurse, entrepreneur, advocate, and activist in the anti-racism movement. Known for her pioneering work in developing the Primary Nursing model and relationship based care, Marie’s entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with her passion for innovation, led to her founding a healthcare organization focused on improving quality, safety, patient experience and employee satisfaction through Relationship-Based Care®. Marie has continued her work with nurses suffering from substance abuse issues. In 2015, the American Academy of Nursing presented her with a Living Legends award.
Julie Kennedy Oehlert, DNP, RN, works as a Chief Experience Officer and is passionate about achieving results in safety, quality, experience, and interprofessionality — through intentional culture disruption. She is strategically responsible for creating and sustaining healthy and healing experiences for patients, team members, physicians, and the community. Dr. Oehlert’s innovative approach has inspired executives, leaders, providers, and team members throughout the system to strengthen shared partnerships by demonstrating love and empathy for one another, which translates to a connection back to purpose and creates a culture that supports joy in work.
